The Leadership Coaching Group

Feb 11, 2019

Today, we are speaking with deep listening expert, Oscar Trimboli. Understanding listening is a vital skill because, after all, we live in a noisy world and we often feel like we have to fight to be heard. That means that we are constantly repeating ourselves, are sending follow up emails, and then sitting through meetings where the same topics are hashed out time and time again.

As leaders, we should be concerned if our people feel trapped in the clutches of feeling unheard. Oscar comments that this feeling of being unheard is actually the root of what makes people leave their jobs. Interestingly, less than 2% of people have been taught how to properly listen. But after you listen to today’s episode, you will be a little better equipped to be a deep listener.

What we cover:

  • The cost of not listening – it includes employee turnover, impact on customers, the performance of an organization, and more
  • How to know if you are a good listener
  • Why active listening isn’t good enough
